about us

The North West Face Climbing Centre Warrington

The Northwest Face

Welcome to The Northwest Face!

Our story began in December 1995 when we acquired St Anne’s Church. After extensive work with British Wall Builders, DR Livingstone, and Bendcrete, we officially opened on February 1st, 1996, marking the start of our journey in the climbing gym world. Over the years, we’ve expanded our facilities, including the addition of new wall sections and 8 auto belays. Looking ahead, we have more exciting changes and additions planned!

Today, we offer:

  • 54 climbing lines, including top ropes, lead climbing, and 8 auto belays
  • A spacious 100-square-meter bouldering area
  • A range of grades to suit experienced climbers and beginners.

Our team is here to help you every step of the way. We have welcoming, friendly staff who are not only approachable but also knowledgeable, offering support and guidance whenever you need it. Whether you're climbing for the first time or pushing your limits, we’re here to make your experience enjoyable and safe.

For a mid-session break, our café area is the perfect place to relax with a hot brew and recharge.

We’re located on A49 Winwick Road, in a distinctive Victorian church.

Parking: We have space for over 35 cars – just use WA2 7NE in your Sat Nav to find us!

Please note, registration of competence is required before climbing unsupervised.

Come and experience climbing in a fun, friendly, and supportive environment – whether you're a beginner or an experienced climber!
